ASPTEA is a professional organization made up exclusively of City of Phoenix Administrative, Supervisory, Professional and Technical Employees. We are an association of professionals working together to ensure all Unit 7 employees have a say in payroll and benefit negotiations with city management. The City of Phoenix currently employs over 3600 Unit 7 employees who are all eligible for ASPTEA membership. We represent the largest employee group in the City. Who Runs ASPTEA? Every member of ASPTEA has a say in how the organization grows and improves. All members of the ASPTEA Board are voted in by our members. Every ASPTEA Board member is also a dedicated city employee, just like you. Why Join ASPTEA? As a member of ASPTEA, you have the power to make a difference in your quality of life. Being a member gives you a voice in wage and benefit negotiations and health care and retirement plans. What does membership provide? Membership gives you the ASPTEA Edge… But I Don’t Have to Join to Get These Benefits …. It’s true you don’t have to join to reap some of the benefits from the hard work of the ASPTEA. But only members can participate and have a voice in the full range of activities that ASPTEA covers. These activities include Wage and Benefit Negotiations, Health Care Benefits, Retirement Benefits, Pension Programs, Educational Programs, and the list goes on. Unforseen things do happen to good employees. If this happens to you, you need an Edge during the negotiations to keep you in good standing. Unfortunately, many employees don’t think about this until it’s too late. ASPTEA will provide limited help to all Unit 7 employees on employment issues, but if you really need someone to “go to bat” for you, only members receive full representation including counseling; representation for employee discipline; and professional legal services if necessary. How soon can I get representation when I join? Membership benefits are not in effect until dues which are collected the first pay check of the month. During the waiting period, ASPTEA staff will only provide guidance and information on grievances procedures; assist in reviewing NOI responses and information on current negotiated benefits. When can I get legal representation from ASPTEA? Employment issues that occur prior to membership will NOT be covered by our legal services.
